Despite the heat of August, this fun-loving couple were all smiles for their wedding at the New Children’s Museum in downtown San Diego.

Across the street, they said “I Do’s” on the playground, then back to the museum for celebrations.

Much gratitude to:
Kellene of Betty Blue Events for masterful coordination
Laura of Laura Christin Photography for these incredible images – she captured their emotions beautifully.
DJ Earl Henry – always the pro – for seamless ceremony sound and music.

Cat-mother

Escorted by her mother, Catherine is just beaming as she heads up the aisle (and I just love the toddler-swing hanging in the background!)

bride arrival

Colin can’t hide his love and pride as Catherine comes up to join him.

rings-kerchief

Their wedding rings bundled up into a special handkerchief – handmade by Colin’s great-grandmother – it also served as Cat’s “something blue.”

passing the rings

Cat’s dear aunt passes their wedding rings along – a beautiful ritual of a ring warming- during the ceremony.

vows card

Sharing personal vows is a special and sacred moment. I always tell couples it’s a good idea to write them on a nice card stock – easier to manage especially in breezes. These two wrote their vows into lovely cards, which will make a great keepsake.

Just after the ceremony is complete as the wedding party begins to celebrate, the Maid of Honor and Best Man perform that very important task of signing their marriage license as witness.

reception setup

Beautifully set up for a celebration!

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs!!
I was to honored to officiate their ceremony on their big day.

You far exceeded our expectations for the ceremony. We had a delightful time meeting you and telling you our story–and you managed to incorporate that very well into the ceremony. Your process works! It was such a pleasure working with you.

On a beautiful June day out in the countryside of San Diego, Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center provided the perfect space for these two to share I Dos.
Simple decor and personal touches made this a special and intimate wedding ceremony.

Much gratitude to:
Brandon of Brandon Colbert Photography for incredible images as well as his easy-going professional style.
Black Tie Productions for seamless ceremony sound and music.
Bates Nut Farm and coordinator Sherrie for making everything run so smoothly!

The majesty of these gorgeous trees create the perfect space for the ceremony.

arch and table

TIME CAPSULE: This beautiful leather case on the wooden table contains very special wine bottles. And during the ceremony Tanya and Iain placed their marriage vows in the case along with the wine. On their anniversary they will open the case, pop the cork, and share their vows again, to celebrate and toast their union once again.

Her parents are simply beaming as they escort their daughter up the aisle.

bridesmaid-rings

RING WARMING: I love this simple wooden round box to pass their rings for the ring warming. During the ceremony, their wedding rings are passed among the guests, who take just a moment for a silent wish or blessing for the happy couple, their future and marriage together.

vow laugh

VOWS: Sharing a laugh during their personal vows to each other.

Recently I met with a couple who shared their beautiful story of how they met, and then how he proposed. Immediately after he got down on one knee (and she said yes!), they took off for a camping trip up the coast. The bride-to-be dashed off a few texts to friends and family with the good news.
When they arrived at the campsite they had no reception. Little did they realize what a blessing that became.
trees

For the next 24 hours they basked in their new status, just the two of them in Nature, sharing dreams. Spending that time with only each other.
The next day as they headed off, reception was restored and their phones were full of texts, calls, posts.

Of course it was wonderful to receive all the well wishes. But they realized that if they’d been able, they would have spent all that time on the phone with family, texting with friends, posting pics.
A little delay made all the difference in savoring and remembering that very special time together, off the grid.

This is a clever and multi-use idea for a unity ceremony!

This destination couple wanted to include a unity ceremony in their wedding, but wanted to avoid having to pack any accoutrement for the trip home.

Their bouquets did double-duty for the unity! A beautiful, natural, and efficient option,
to incorporate their bouquets.

“You have each walked down the aisle with your own bouquet of flowers. Each representing your individual
lives to this point.”
