Lisa and Garrett’s August wedding at the Hotel Del Coronado combined the sophistication of that beautiful venue infused with celebrating Aussie-style.
The Australian bride’s family traveled all the way to San Diego. Except for Dad, who wasn’t able to make it, but was hooked in via Skype!

I loved working with this couple, and had a blast with Lisa, who taught me the correct pronunciation of “Aussie.” and introduced me to Australian treat – TimTams. yum!

Hilary Medovich with the Del was fantastic to work with – she made everything so easy.
As did DJ Kelley. From the moment the music started, the dance floor was never empty.
And great as always to work with Mark Hillis – once again records it all beautifully with incredible and creative photography.

So happy to see the pics from officiating the wedding ceremony for Chelsy and Mario. They were such a fun couple at their August wedding at the beautiful Hilton Mission Bay.

Toes-in-the-sand San Diego wedding

They had a true toes-in-the-sand San Diego wedding!

During the craziness of gathering everyone for the wedding rehearsal, they had a cute phrase they said to each other, “honey, lead by example.”

Aside from their beautiful vows to each other and the meaningful readings during the ceremony, I feel like that phrase really exemplified who they are, and the support and encouragement they give each other.

So fun to work with the amazing Sara France on this one! Thank you for the fantastic pics Sara!

Today the event industry meeting of the San Diego Association of Bridal Consultants gathered in the beautiful gardens of Quail Haven, decorated for an ideal wedding ceremony setting.

A beautiful venue to host your wedding out in the countryside in a bounty of roses.

During the luncheon, Minister Bethel Nathan commented on the incredible spirit of teamwork we all feel with our wedding industry colleagues. And on that note I was happy to share a lunch table with some of the best in the business: Spencer Bezy of Mobile Music Plus, guitarist Anthony Garcia, photographer Brant Bender, Marc Lehman of Emotions Picture Studio and the team of Eco Catering.

The drive and walkway up to the entrance, adorned with beautiful brickwork and abundance of roses.

These industry meetings are always a pleasure and an inspiration.

Thanks to the lovely Quail Havens owner and host Lindy Walman, who still has her charming Australian accent despite living stateside more than 20 years.

How amazing would it be to say “I do” at your own private retreat? There is a new venue in town – Retreat to the Oakes – that offers all the serenity and privacy to make it your own.

Plenty of space and interesting landscaping-perfect for cocktails on the patio.

Their open house last night showcased some beautiful options for a great event.

I would love to officiate a wedding ceremony here – it truly has the feeling of your own private retreat, with a sophisticated appeal.

DJ Spencer Bezy served as emcee in his own inimitable style.  One of my favorite florists, Kiyoko of Cherry Blossom contributed beautiful floral arrangements. And guitarist Anthony Garcia added to a great musical experience.

Last night I had the privilege of officiating the wedding ceremony for Juro and Michiko.

It was a small intimate affair with just family, on the terrace at Bertrand Mr. A’s. The spectacular views offered so many images of San Diego: ocean, city, and gardens in the park.

Every couple and ceremony is unique, and this one just a little moreso – the groom was 84 and the bride 83.

Juro and Michiko were first married 60 years ago, divorced 40 years ago, became engaged in August 2012, and married again March 2.

It is such a beautiful story to remind us you just never know what life will bring you, and that love has its own path and timeline to find its way home.
