Lisa and Garrett’s August wedding at the Hotel Del Coronado combined the sophistication of that beautiful venue infused with celebrating Aussie-style.
The Australian bride’s family traveled all the way to San Diego. Except for Dad, who wasn’t able to make it, but was hooked in via Skype!

I loved working with this couple, and had a blast with Lisa, who taught me the correct pronunciation of “Aussie.” and introduced me to Australian treat – TimTams. yum!

Hilary Medovich with the Del was fantastic to work with – she made everything so easy.
As did DJ Kelley. From the moment the music started, the dance floor was never empty.
And great as always to work with Mark Hillis – once again records it all beautifully with incredible and creative photography.

Leyla and Jarred found a beautiful way to combine their faiths in their August wedding ceremony. It was such a privilege to officiate at their wedding- Leyla is Persian and of Baha’i faith, and Jarred wanted to honor his Christian beliefs.

The stage was set at the Hilton Torrey Pines with all of the offerings of the sofreh- a colorful, decorative spread of symbolic items.

With this ring . . . The sofreh was beautifully adorned with symbolic items for the ceremony. I officiated the the vows and ring exchange from off to the side.

Friday evening I performed their wedding ceremony at Centennial Park on Coronado.

All the groomsmen were former or current military service, and one of them had actually served on the Midway before it was decommissioned. We had a view of it from the ceremony site looking back toward the city. It was pretty great.

The beautiful simple interior of deep woods and stained-glass window offers a perfect tranquil setting for any ceremony.

This location is open to all faiths and is available to everyone. Bring your own officiant or minister, music, etc. (If you would like organ music they do require that you hire their professional organist.)

It’s a lovely blank slate for any wedding.
